Lambton College new 100,000 SQFT multi-level student residence. Located in Sarnia, ON. The residence will offer hybrid and apartment-style suites, communal spaces, and quiet study areas. This project is the largest in the college’s history. The structural design incorporates a number of building elements that showcase the complexity and precision required to coordinate multiple structural materials within a large-scale, multi-storey development. At the core of the system is a structural steel framework that provides strength, flexibility, and constructability, allowing the hybrid use of concrete, masonry, and light-gauge framing to come together seamlessly. The use of structural steel enables efficient load transfer, long clear spans for open communal areas, and straightforward integration of mechanical and architectural systems. This adaptability makes it an ideal solution for a multi-level residence of this scale, ensuring both construction efficiency and long-term performance while accommodating the building’s diverse functional and spatial requirements.
